Our Services
Since its founding in 1981, JASSI — Japanese American Social Services, Inc. — is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that offers welfare services to people in New York area who need assistance due to language or cultural barriers. We provide free consultation on life issues, regardless of age, gender, background or immigration status.Our Core Programs

Hotline Program
JASSI’s Hotline offers bilingual help with questions or consultations for any issues you may have, Monday through Friday, 10am to 5pm. We also offer crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy as needed.
Senior Program
JASSI offers case assistance, information & referral services, cultural events, and seminars for people over 60 years old.
Caregiver Support Program
Funded by NYC Department for the Aging, we provide services to those who care for people over 60 years old including counseling, case management, and benefit referrals.
Community Outreach Program
We hosts seminars and workshops for Japanese-speaking individuals in NYC area, publish informative newsletters, and organize public education on themes such as Visa, Citizenship, Health Insurance, Home Care, Living Will, and more.
Fundraising Seminars and Events
JASSI Supporters organize seminars, and volunteer speakers present insightful content using their areas of expertise.Other Services

Senior Assurance Call
JASSI offers phone calls on a regular basis to Japanese senior citizens older than 60 who live alone and/or have health concerns.

Free Cancer Screening
JASSI will continue the partnership with the New York State Department of Health Cancer Service Program Queens and ScanVan and accept appointments for a clinical breast exam and a pap smear/pelvic exam* for uninsured women who are 40 and older, living in NYC (Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Bronx).

Health Insurance Marketplace
If you are eligible for special enrollment periods or public health insurance such as "Medicaid", "Child Health Plus", or "Essential Plan", you can purchase insurance throughout the year. JASSI has New York State Certified Insurance Counselors, so feel free to contact JASSI for more information.
